I have watched the slo-mo from many angles and I am bemused.
Both players are going for the same ball. One is hoping to shoot on goal, the other wants to prevent that. Fair play for me.
However, there is this "studs" thing, hence the penalty.
It seems that in a 50:50 challenge the attacker's studs can be anywhere, but the defender's studs must be down. If that is the case the defender cannot defend.
In every game there are hundreds of tackles where studs are not down or on the ground. Do we penalise them all or get on with the game?
As for VAR. Why have on-pitch refs and linesmen? The 'eye in the sky' sees everything, every second, and from all angles. Soon it will be AI controlled with no humans involved.
