A poll by YouGov says that those taking part, social media, far-right groups and News Media are all largely to blame for the unrest - upwards of 70% and as high as 88%.

The big question it, and all commentators, fail to ask is "Why?". What is causing the unrest? They all have their own suppositions but nobody sees the need to get to the truth.

For me it looks to be more than Moslems, boat people, poverty, cost of living and so on, and there looks to be a whole raft of frustrations building up. However, if we do not engage and ask what drives these people we will never get answers nor solutions.

Confrontations between rival groups and both against the police (possibly the armed forces) will solve nothing.

There is more than one reason as you say.
But basically the main one imo is mass immigration - and every mainstream party supports mass immigration.
So if they admit there are problems caused by mass immigration the next question would be "So what are you doing to address these problems?"
At which point a long silence would descend.

They don't want to admit any fault in this matter. They don't even want to admit that there are any problems caused by mass immigration. Because the political class have caused these problems and they have no answer to them (apart from throwing the accusation of racism around).

So the question "why?" won't be asked.
