I got back from the supermarket yesterday with the shopping on the back seat. Got the shopping out, shut the door and went into my flat - I forgot to lock the car.
Came out this afternoon and when I clicked the key there was nothing. I though that the battery had gone flat so went back inside for the spare. Nothing again. Now it would be some coincidence for two key fob batteries to go flat at the same time.... The thing is that the car was locked. I forgot yesterday, but it was now locked!
I had to slide back the 'secret' lock cover and go in manually - I already knew that as it is pretty standard - but when I did so the alarm went off until I started the car.
So there I am going through the user guide to try for a solution when I discovered this. If I go away and leave the car unlocked for some time (15 mins) it locks itself and turns all the electrics off except the alarm. The only way to reset things (and shut the alarm up) is to start it normally using the ignition key
It's a pretty neat trick as it secures the car and saves the battery as well should lights, radio etc. be left on.
However, it's a good job I keep the user guide in the flat, though.
