Well, for me the Ostrich has it right.

If Trump and Musk kept their mouths shut and did the right things the media could not vilify them, but they can't, so we all get a good laugh out of them, dangerous though they undoubtedly are.

Well, thanks for all your interesting responses, which I take on board!
Perceptions are formed in different ways.
I guess we will just have to wait and see what happens in the aftermath of the election - actions will then speak much louder than words.
