Help please...

I know Suff and WM don't play these games/do facebook, but bear with me as there are other problems I think are relevant.

A few days ago 2 games on facebook stopped working.
The games are Candy Crush Saga (CC) and Angry Birds Friends (AB) (different companies).
The page opens then for ages and ages look to be loading.
AB sometimes eventually loads and can even be played. CC, even if it looks to load, won't play.
Both games require adobe flashplayer. It's not that our lives depend on the games lol, but rather that they should work but don't.

I've uninstalled and re-installed flashplayer (several times).
I've cleared the cache/deleted stored files.
I've done all sorts of other things that might have helped, but haven't.
In the end I thought I'd do a system restore but can't as it's switched off (at your recommendation or the pc repair man's, can't remember which).

Thing is though, when trying to do the install flashplayer, the download takes forever, really, really slow. And twice it stopped with the message 'cannot contact reliable source'. What on earth does that mean?!

Do you think it's the actual internet service?? I think one of you mentioned a thing to check the actual broadband speed but I can't find it now :?
Any bright ideas??

Di, Adobe download problems are not unknown, especially with a new release or at peak times. Have you tried downloading from a third party site such as:

http://adobe-flash-player.en.softonic.com/

http://download.cnet.com/Adobe-Flash-Pl ... 01055.html

They will route through to Adobe, and might have better access.

I haven't WM and will give those a go another time.
Doesn't help for now though, since it has installed, but the games still don't work :?
And btw, there wasn't a new release, I'd only uninstalled and re-installed because it was worth a try :?

Have you done a scan for malware, viruses?
I know, I know, but it might be worth a try.

If all that is clean, or even before, try clearing the DNS cache.
Click the Start button.
On the Start menu, click Run....Enter cmd and click OK. In the new window type ipconfig /flushdns and press enter.
See if that helps.

Yep, did the scans (microsoft essentials and malwarebytes) - nowt.
Off to try that thing you said...

'The requested operation requires elevation'
Then it has c:\users\my name
What do I put??

W7! PITA!

Click the Start button >>> All Programs >>> Accessories
On the Command Prompt icon RIGHT-CLICK and select "Run As Administrator"
In the command window type the following command: ipconfig /flushdns and hit Enter.

Google "Broadband speed test" and from the results try out a few. Don't rely on one, you need and average.

You could also get this: https://www.grc.com/dns/benchmark.htm

It will point you to the best DNS servers. You can then change them in Internet connections. Follow the instructions to build a custom list and use that, you only need do it once.
