Hotmail/Outlook

Postby Paddypix » 23 May 2013, 17:08

Since Hotmail changed to Outlook it is complete and total rubbish. I can only access my email perhaps one time in four attempts and when I do manage to get in my two other linked accounts have disappeared from the dropdown list. When I go to accounts setting and try to re-link them, it says that this information cannot be accessed at the moment. Has anyone else had problems with Outlook? I would ditch it and change to my gmail account but I don't want to lose all mys saved emails of which there are many in different folders.

Strangely enough, it has been a lot better for me Paddypix. I used to get the not available notice many times on Hotmail but now I rarely get it. I don't use it very often though - only as a handy second email addy.

Yes! I have also found it to be a mess and not as stable as my old Live account.

However, I have always used an e-mail client to download them to my computer, but even so the folders fill up. I do not like Gmail either with it always wanting to link me to other things.

For my main account I use the plain and simple POP3 service from GMX and then sort things out with rules on my inbox.

Thanks WM. I'll have a look at GMX and see if I can make sense of it. I've been hoping that Microsoft would smooth out the Outlook teething problems but nothing seems to change.

Rodo you seem to have been luckier than I've been with the new system.

When I changed my email address I just emailed the old ones to my new email address so didn't lose any of them.

I think there is a wizard that will swap them all over in one go.

You're with Yahoo aren't you Rodo? What email provider do you use Molly? I already have a gmail account so might go with that. I'll leave it for a few more days to see if it sorts itself out, but I don't have much hope.

Liz, you can add another account in Gmail and it will simply import everything for you - e-mails and folders.

My dislike for these things is that I never have MY e-mails, they are stored somewhere else.... and I don't like that. :ugeek:

If you have outlook, you might want to look at this.

Once you have it in outlook, you can move it where you like.
