Panic!!

Postby Gal » 07 Dec 2012, 18:32

I went into the loft to get my Christmas decs down and was met with wet. Water seeping through the felt in the roof, dripping on to the boarded out bit below, and on to the insulation stuff further over the loft space.

I am SICK of water problems this year!!!

I have a roofing bloke coming out to have a look tomorrow afternoon....on the phone, by my description he said he thinks it is probably condensation, but I have never had this before and have been here nearly five years. I am panicking big time - there's no point putting dishes and containers around as it's dripping from all over the roof, not just in one or two places.

God what else can go wrong in this house????

Water can seem to be coming from everywhere but usually it is just one small leak spreading as it collects up and then escaping to a lower level though any gaps it can find. Hopefully it is condensation and I'm sure your builder has seen it all before and put things right. Hope all goes well once he's been and it is something simple.

Thanks all - I'm hoping it is 'just' condensation and can be rectified with the least amount of fuss and bother :|

I feel your pain Gal. We have a roofing guy coming out tomorrow.

A few years ago, before we had the girls so at least 10 years ago, we once had a really bad storm and water came through the ceiling into what is now L' bedroom. We never found the source of it and it never happened again - until last night.

Last night Mick went upstairs and thought the boiler was leaking but after further investigation found that water was coming in through the roof, running down a wall in our attic bedroom and coming out below the boiler (very close to L's bedroom). It is very obviously the way the rain is blowing at the time!

So it might never happen again for another 10 years or so but we have decided, whilst we have the insurance money, to just get the builder out and get it sorted.
Life begins at the end of your comfort zone!
