Following our conversation yesterday, thought I would let you know how Mowgli got on tonight.
Kim's suggestion was a 3 week course of Synulox and Biosolvan Simon didn't agree with the Synulox, he said there is no evidence of infection. So as Mowgli had very red eyes tonight he has gone with a 10 day course of Maxitrol eye drops, as they are steroid and some of the steroid will enter the nasal passages from the tear ducts. He feels the best thing would be a steroid nasal spray but he said it is almost impossible to do, so this was the best solution. His worry is that the eye problem is herpes based and the steroids could make that worse, so I have to keep a close watch. I asked about blood testing to see whether it is herpes or the the thing beginning with C. He said that the herpes virus is very hard to isolate, often it flares up, does the damage and then goes away leaving the problem behind so when you test you get a negative result. He did talk about taking swabs from Mowgli's eyes. He said though that it would be really expensive as you have to test the DNA of the organism (I did get confused) so we would be looking at around £80 plus vat and if I am going to spend that sort of money he thinks a CT scan of Mowgli's head would be more beneficial.
He said to carry on with the Lyscine and I do think it helps, but if I use that, the Biosolvan and the Maxitrol, I shan't know what is working, so I am leaving the Lyscine for now.
I will keep you posted
