The point is they didn't have to weed this one out, did they? He quite happily posted his thoughts on an open web site. What makes his comments worse, imo, is the sheer ignorance behind them. He appears to believe that people with Downs or spina bifida have no value and will always be burdens. He is obviously so ignorant that he doesn't realise that people with Downs, etc can be, and often are, productive members of society.
Even if they weren't productive members of society they are still valuable to their families and friends.
UKIP have now suspended this idiot but only because of the backlash against his comments-originally they were supportive of him.
Baroness Warnock a committed advocate of euthenasia for the elderly no questions asked... like it or lump it.. "And she is getting her way with PATHWAY Kaz.. These nutters are in all parties.. I shall certainly consider UKIP very strongly having been a life long Conservative
I'm not sure your comments above are 100% correct, Kate. I have never seen her make calls for the elderly to be euthanised wholesale...what she did suggest was the euthanasia option for those with dementia. Yes, it is mainly the elderly who get dementia but not all of the do thus it's wrong to say it applied to all the elderly. I don't support her views at all-at what stage does a dementia sufferer lose the ability to make an informed choice, etc? However I do think it is important to stick to the facts re her ideas.
As for the UKIP, no thank you, I'd rather vote for the Raving Looney Party of old than give my vote to UKIP.
