Death in Paradise

Postby TheOstrich » 14 Jan 2014, 23:18

Not everyone likes this I know - but we enjoy it. :P

A seamless transition from Ben Miller to Kris Marshall in tonight's first episode of the new series, and we're looking forward to seeing him develop in the character. I think the BBC have "signed" him for three series.

A bit like Midsomer Murders - Neil Dudgeon has really excelled as Barnaby since replacing John Nettles, Gwilym Lee makes an excellent new side-kick, and the series goes from strength to strength.

I have always like DiP.

It does not tax my brain too much, there is humour, and the plots just leave me enough to think about. The transition from Ben to Kris was well done, and he appears to be the antitheses of the old Richard.

I am quite looking forward to the new series.

A very poignant fact I didn't know before tonight when they played a fuller version of it, and I was able to track it down .........

The theme song to Death in Paradise.

Amy Winehouse

You're wondering now, what to do, now you know this is the end .....

Apparently, it was the last song she ever performed live .....

Nah, it's not Amy's version....

It's a rearrangement of Coxsone Dodd's original and is nearer to the Skatalites or, even better, Andy and Joey's version.

Good, tho, innit?

I love Death in Paradise, it's quirky 8-) I also like Kris Marshall, I think he is underrated as a comic actor - in My Family he stole every scene he was in IMO, not easy when you are up against Zoe Wannamaker and Robert Lindsay! ;)

Looking forward to seeing how the series develops 8-)

Yep, after some in-depth research (!), you're right, the "extended" play used in last night's episode (55:25 on iPlayer) is the Doreen Shaffer & the Skatalites version. Many thanks for the correction! :)

Pleased to see the show got generally favourable media reviews. Well worth watching that first episode on catch-up, Ria.
