And "potted dog" (potted meat).

The scraps were taken off the bone and chopped finely then re-seasoned and mixed with a bit of the fatty juices skimmed from the pot - oh, and a sprinkle of mace. The best sandwich spread ever!

I love Oxtail soup, not had oxtail proper before though.

When I was first married, one of our family members who worked at a local butchers, decided it would be a bit of a wheeze to place a real ox tail under the bottom sheet of our bed

Loz, that means that it is thick and tasty. It's a bit like goulash without the paprika and chilli. Honestly, it is delish. ;)

As for the 'potted dog'. We would use a fork to scrape the tail of those bits still stuck to it once it had gone cold...... they would be used for the potted meat (dog).
