Make up

Postby Ally » 16 Apr 2014, 10:17

I don't know why I log onto the Wailonline  but I do and there's an article today saying the average woman's make up bag tots up to £220. :o

I'm certainly not average then as my bake up bag is nowhere near that amount!

I have one (thanks Leilani) Anya Hindmarch make up bag that holds all the make up I have.

1 Rimmel mascara
1 Body Shop loose face powder
1 Rimmel kohl pencil
1 Rimmel eye shadow palette
Blue eye dew drops
1 old toothbrush to tidy me eyebrows
1 Mac Ruby Woo lipstick
A few eye make up brushes
And about 20 different lip glosses (I can never resist a bit of lippy)

Typing this got me thinking - if you were only allowed one item of make up what would it be?

Mine would definitely be my Ruby Woo lipstick.

MIne most definitely doesnt cost £220.

From memory I have

black & grey eyeshadow tablet
black eyeliner
black mascara
lip sheen
Thats my every day wear

Then I have

purple eyeshadow tablet
purple eyeliner
brown eyeshadow tablet
brown eyeliner
blusher
4 x lipsticks
lip liner
lip sheens

I do tend to spoil myself when it comes to buying make up and it is pretty much all Clinique. It is also all pretty much over 5 years old.

If I could only chose one I would really struggle to decide between the lip sheen, the black mascara and the black eye liner. I think if really pushed I would go for the mascara (I can always use vaseline on my lips).

Oh heck...I probably have at least £220 in Mac lipsticks alone  They're not all in my make up bag though, I keep them in a separate box which I rifle through when I fancy a change.

In my make up bag

Garnier Perfect Blur
Rimmel foundation
No7 concealer (which was a freebie)
Rimmel under eye concealer/illuminator
Boots 17 clear mascara
Bourjois blusher x2 - Healthy Mix and Rose Frisson
Benefit Bad Gal black eyeliner
Walgreen's lip balm
Revlon Colorburst matte balm - Striking
Mac lipstick x3 - Vegas Volt, Chilli and Mocha
Bobby Brown lipstick - Slopes
Lipcote

As for one I couldn't do without it'd be hard to choose between the Rimmel under eye concealer, the Vegas Volt lipstick or the good old plain lip balm

Only one item

Scary thought, but it would have to be mascara! My eyelashes are very pale and sparse and you can't see them at all without mascara :?

As for the contents of my makeup bag, are we talking the one I use everyday, or the two with my vast collection of stuff I use sometimes, or can't bear to throw out??? :?

Everyday bag it is then :P

Dior Forever Skin foundation
Bodyshop BB tinted moisturiser
Dior bronzer
L'Oreal blusher in Old Rose
Black 'kohl' eyeliner pencil (can't remember what brand, only a cheapy one)
Bodyshop 'cubes' eyeshadows
L'Oreal eyeshadow palette (I use the darker colour for my eyebrows)
Maybelline Great Lash mascara
Bourjois grey eyeliner pencil
Benefit Hi Beam face highlighter
Bodyshop Lightning Touch concealer/highlighter (very similar to Touche Éclat but a lot cheaper)
Bodyshop face powder
Clinique Chubby Stick lippy in Strawberry
Ditto in Red Tomato
Blusher brush
Double ended eye brush (one end for smudging eyeliner, one for my eyebrows)

:P

None of it is very new though....The Dior foundation lasts me ages as I mix it on the back of my hand with the BB Bodyshop stuff, the Chubby Sticks were Duty Free from lst year's holiday, and the mascara is about 6 months old! Bodyshop I bought last year from Fruity/Helena who is a Bodyshop agent ;) The Dior I get through my friend on the Dior counter ;) 8-) In fact the only thing out of that lot that isn't last year's is the L'Oreal palette ;)

That concludes the case for the Defence, M'Lady :P ;)

I adore my Clinique travel set of 5 lip glosses.

A few years ago I was on an Easyjet flight to Luton to see my sis and was sitting next to a London cabbie driver who was a very nervous flyer.. :D

He was very chatty because of his nerves but was ever so nice and was buying the gift set for his wife and I just happened to say how nice they were - and he absolutely insisted on buying me a set for making him feel so calm on the flight. :o

He'd also just finished reading The Lovely Bones and gave that to me too.

He also told me about the time he got a 20p tip after dropping Roger Moore at The Dorchester hotel!

Your chubby sticks will come in handy when you go on holiday.

You are going on holiday this year, aren't you? ;) ;)

I have lots but hardly wear any :) It was different all the time I was working, I wouldn't have dreamed of going without 'proper' makeup on - legacy of having worked in London probably.
Now though with my eyes so bad (water a lot) it's just not worth wearing mascara most of them time. I do miss it but wearing glasses helps! :D
I wouldn't go out without my Garnier Bb cream and concealer (currently benefit It stick) plus have to do my eyebrows as they have gaps :? So I'd refuse to only have one thing :D
Mostly I just wear those plus lipstick :)
