Vic,

It is a known scam and is flagged up on the Apple Communities board.

Don't click on any link, just delete.

This was a documented scam to get your credit card details and last 4 digits and then crack your apple account by requesting a password reset. Then using the apple store to raid the card.

The loophole has been closed but they are still trying to scam people.

As with all these things, I use a logic rule.

Do I have an account?

No: Bin.
Yes: Close Mail, go directly to the web site using your normal links or just the we address and log into the account. Check the details.

This has worked for me. When Paypal UK was hacked and $1k was lifted from my card with Paypal, I carried out all the correct actions, for account reset then challenged the transaction. I had my money back within 72 hours.

There are links you are sent which you have no option to click, like password reset links in email. However there is one Golden Rule. If you didn't ask for it in the last 5-10 minutes, or hour if it takes that long, you NEVER click on the link.
There are 10 types of people in the world:
Those who understand Binary and those who do not.
