Shaz, you forget that I am well acquainted with the issues of Glasgow and immigration. I recall the news of the "Chechen immigrants" scared for their lives because of one of theirs being "murdered" with a knife. I recall the news quietly "forgot" to mention that it was a Chechen Gangster who was trying to muscle into the local crime scene who was murdered. Little inconvenient facts in the whole "Britain is Racist" word that a whole slice of Britain lives in today. They also seem to be the same people who think that Britain, the #5 economy in a world of nearly 200 recognised countries, is some little backwater who shouldn't say boo to a goose.

It is more than 15 years of repression, name calling, race slurring which has killed the debate. Now we see people are hardened to it. Now we see people are vocal about it. Now we see real racism because it's the only way to actually get some debate on the true issues such as councils who will do anything for immigrants and as little as possible for the vast majority of their electorate.

Also, something I've noticed in Scotland particularly during the referendum debate, the SNP followers have swallowed the whole SNP chant of UKIP is racist, hook, line and sinker. Even my own son repeating Salmond's chant. Why is Salmond doing this? Because he's scared. Just like Labour and the Tories are scared of UKIP. But the very special divisions of the Scottish independence referendum have allowed a complete fallacy to gain "truth" status. I fully believe that the 10% vote for UKIP in Scotland in the EU elections represent the core of Scots who do not want independence and also do not want the EU. Given the strong rise of the UKIP in England and Wales, that 10% may decide to stay with the Union and fully support UKIP. As the surest way to get out of the EU. Rather than take a chance on Salmond and a referendum led exit. If they do that, then the Scottish Independence will be a nothing more than Salmond's wet dream, all ruined by a "Racist" slur which was thought to be good politics. After all it's worked for nearly two decades, why can't we just pull it out of the bag again for this one???

This BBC poll is nothing more than another attempt at playing the race card. This time, having totally failed to brand the UKIP as racist, the BBC is trying to brand the people of the UK as racist with a survey which is totally designed to produce a result of at least 66% of people admitting to be racist. Trying to make the people of the UK feel guilty for having voted UKP so they won't do it again.

What you might want to ask yourself is why such a survey, in the light of the recent UKIP vote, specifically designed so that it will be incredibly difficult NOT to say you are a racist, only returned a 33% "I'm a racist" result.

People will only be stupid so long. This kind of attempt to incite racial tension is working. It's truly inciting the race bias which did not exist in the UK this last 40 years. It's making people really dislike other races because the mere presence of these people makes idiots like the BBC try and make the rest of us guilty for not liking them. Whether we DO or NOT.

There is no such thing as Semantics or Pedantry in the Race definition. Racists are horrible people who would beat a person half to death and leave them in the street (given half a chance and enough alcohol), just because that person has a different colour skin or a different language. Those people are extremely unpleasant and, fortunately extremely rare.

If you want to call someone a racist then you have to be DAMNED SURE exactly what you are talking about and DAMNED PRECISE in what you say.

Otherwise we'll get racists all right. We'll hate everyone and vote that way and it will ALL be the fault of the Race slurs and those who incite racial tension by claiming a racial bias which does not exist.

Unfortunately, for a lot of very nice people of different races, I'm going to be proved right. I will hate it but I will be right. Aggers is not wrong when he says that this is going to cause huge violence in the end.

Those who understand Binary and those who do not.

Interesting insights your posts, Suff.

I think it goes without saying that more than a few folk, (certainly of my generation), have really now "had it up to here" with politicians, media, Europe, immigration, the PC stranglehold, and the direction this country has been propelled in over the last 20-25 years by the so-called elite. All bets are off now; as I've said before, if anyone wants to label me a racist bigot, I don't give a d^mn anymore, because both the term, and the individual words are now meaningless.

I know people I've spoken to regarding immigration who used to preface their comments with "I'm not a racist, but ......" They don't bother now, the scorpion no longer has a sting.

We are no longer apologists. And thus society in the country slowly, inexoriably descends into the pit, because many attitudes that previously have been taboo no longer are, and are finding a voice.

That is because a lot of thing do not need apologising for. Simply throwing out accusations of racism or bigotry was the PC tactic of choice to stifle debate - and it worked. We had been brought up in this touchy-feely world and didn't want to be labelled as a racist or bigot, so we apologised, even when our words or actions did not fit the bill. However, these accusations were/are used so often, and for every damned thing, that they have become meaningless, they are now like water off a duck's back, we are not in the slightest bit bothered by them any more. Unfortunately they are also meaningless to the real racist and bigots who can now hide in the crowd.
