Vic, have you somehow disabled it in Skype, and does it show up as working properly in Device Manage - Imaging devices?

Vic, In Windows 7 or older take your mouse to the Start button and on the Menu you should find Control Panel where My Computer and the other things are. If not, got to "Run" and the Open: box type in control and hit the OK button.

In W8 or 8.1 take your mouse cursor to either of the RH corners. When the dock opens click on the search icon, the spy glass, and again type in control. Control Panel will show as one of the results. You could also go the W8 logo in the bottom left corner and do a right click. Control Panel is on the menu.

Once in control panel you will see Device Manager.... In there you should see Imaging Devices and in there should be the webcam.

Plugging the webcam into another usb port also forces windows to reload the driver for that port. Useful as diagnostics.

Vic, in Vista, if you click on the start button CP should be in the pop-up menu. If not, then follow the W7 instructions.

Unless it has been hidden by malware it should be available.
