Rodo wrote: I think we have been very lucky and very spoilt recently by some really excellent dramas on TV. As some have finished there are others just as good waiting in the wings. I think the Shetland series has been seriously under-valued too.

Yes, we'd fully agree with that view, Rodo, especially regarding "Shetland" - this latest series (the third?) is certainly the best so far, stunning scenery and a very good plot-line.

Similarly, "Vera" - Brenda Blethyn has really nailed this down after what was, we thought, a bit of a shaky first series backalong, which we nearly gave up on. Neil Dudgeon is now putting his stamp on "Midsomer Murders", a worthy successor to John Nettles. The only show possibly showing its age now is this final series of "Mt Selfridge" but Jeremy Piven is such a charismatic actor, I'm sure he'll carry it to the finish.

Yes, they are I believe sticking fairly closely to real life depicting his general decline, financial and generally so not really much leeway there.

Totally agreeing with you there Rodo, this adaptation has been fantastic - and Ossie, Endeavour and Vera are pure telly gold as far as I'm concerned :D 8-) 8-)

Never really got into Shetland, I watched the first episode of the first series but wasn't overly struck - perhaps I should give it another go. I believe the books are written by the same author of the Vera books, something I didn't know until very recently, which also makes me think I should give Shetland another go :) :)

Kaz, this latest "Shetland" is one 6-part story, so you'll need to watch episodes 1 and 2 on catch-up which have already been aired .....
