So which one is it?

Postby Suff » 12 Apr 2016, 20:00

The IMF says that if the UK were to leave the EU it could cause severe regional and potentially global disruption.

Erm, but hang o a second. The government and the remain campaign would like us to believe that the UK is so powerless that we will lose influence in the world, in trade and in our economy.

Yet the message from the IMF is that the UK is so large, so powerful and so important, that leaving the EU could cause global disruption.

So. Given that what the IMF says is true, then the EU would be completely insane to do anything other than rapidly and efficiently agree trade deals with the UK, in the event of a brexit.

In fact, if the EU is so insane that it would bring on economic unrest, financial damage and damage the world economy, then what the hell are we doing staying in their little club doing what they tell us to do?

In short, either the remain campaign are lying their asses off. Or they're not and the EU is a self destructive vindictive little autocracy which does not respect the UK and only wants to use it.

Which says to me, that our best option is to leave. Because either the Remain campaign are right and the EU is clinically insane, or the Leave campaign is right and we're better off out. To me that's catch 22. In all cases we are better off out.

Of the IMF is lying it's ass off. Which means, to me, that they are lying to stop us from doing something which would be good for us and bad for them. Again, catch 22. In all cases Leave is the right answer.

This is more of the Project Fear thing, and I am sick of it.

If the UK stays in the EU with a close margin the EU will have no choice but to listen to us. An 'In' vote gives us the possibility to change the direction of the EU and give us a huge say in the future direction of the EU. That is what Cameron et al really want. If it doesn't come to pass we can have another referendum and leave at any time

An "Out" vote also has positives. We would be able to make bilateral and multilateral trade deals. Which is the best option open to debate.

The debate is what is missing.

Project Fear really being ramped up now. But there's a huge danger it will backfire, because the more discredited internationalists speak out, the more likely Brits will be swayed to vote leave.

And we've got Obama coming next! Yippeee!!

What will be interesting is that whichever way the referendum vote goes, it'll be so close the problem that is 'the relationship between the EU and the UK' simply won't be resolved .....

I'm getting sick and tired of all the stupid statements now being made by politicians and others,
who must have vested interests in us staying in the EU. I'm sure that many of the points now
being made by the IN crowd are blasted lies, and I feel I'd like to kick them where it hurts.

I must admit the one that really hacks me off is the USA and Australia saying "It will be in our interests for you to stay in the EU".

Sorry, stuff you, it was in our interests for America and Australia to stay as part of the empire. Want to change?????

For me there is nothing more important than regaining the sovereignty which we signed away.

The avalanche of negative stories has done for me.

Yesterday it was the IMF repeating the "economic shock" story, then it was the NCA telling us that crime figures would go through the roof. Today it is the Migration Observatory (?) warning of a tsunami of Portuguese, Spanish and Italians heading our way.

It has got to the point where the Leave camp can sit back and watch because the Remain camp is doing their job for them.

Well so long as someone is pointing it out. Otherwise those who are not interested will just lap it up....

I feel your pain. When you want something and some complete boneheads are screwing up the message and closing down the debate, it is frustrating as hell.

I have received a letter from Britain Stronger in Europe containing six bullet points for me to take note of.

1. Over 3 million jobs are linked to exports to the EU
2. Over 200,000 business trade with the EU
3. Leaving the EU would cost the average household £850 or up to £1,700
4. Being in the EU means lower prices, these would increase by over £350 per year
5. For every £1 we put in the EU we get £10 back
6. The UK gets £66 million of investment every day from the EU, that's more than we pay in.

All of this is more negativity, more opinion and with not one fact to back up any of the claims being made.

The back of the letter contains eight quotes already aired by: Mark Carney, BOE; Karen Brady, Businesswoman; Hugh Orde, Police; Caroline McCall, EasyJat; Frances O'Grady, TUC; Peter Kendall, ex NFU; Richard Branson, Virgin; and Stephen Hawking, Scientist. Every single quote is a warning against leaving, part of Project Fear. There is little positivity in the whole thing.

Yes, spot on, WM - we received that one today as well. Nothing but warning, warning, warning. Duly shredded! :D

Government's booklet also received and now returned to Downing Street. I did have the decency to put it in an envelope - and sent it with first class postage as well!!
