We used to have a local village character Kaz. He was elderly, thin, always seemed to have three days of white stubble, had no teeth, always wore a flat cap and went everywhere with a push bike. Which he never actually rode, just pushed! He used to stand by the side of the main road in the rush hour with his bike, haranguing the slow moving traffic and pointing repeatedly into the field behind him, which was quite empty. Quite harmless though, like yours!

There was a local character in the town I used to work in. Leon his name was. He'd been fine until sustaining brain injuries in a motorbike accident. Poor thing, I always got on well with him and would chat to him when he came into the shop but he hated my mother in law (we worked together for a time) and wasn't shy about letting his feelings known! He used to come in every afternoon with some notes to change; serial numbers couldn't end with a 5 or a 7 so if he had any of those he needed them swapping. He'd also proudly tell everyone "I'm banned from all of the pubs and clubs in the area". I often wonder what became of him.

There was also a woman there, nicknamed Budgie, no idea why, and she used to walk around shouting abuse at everyone she passed.

There's an elderly chap down here, who, despite being "on the spectrum", is often out and about on his own and seems to travel to Salisbury on a Saturday, where he's been boarding the same train as me on a couple of occasions, around 6:00 in the evening when I've been returning home from the footie.

As the train comes in, he gets a bit agitated and starts asking people: "Help me, help me ...." (It can be a bit confusing at Salisbury because (a) the platforms get switched and (b) the train also divides into two portions, front for Exeter and the back for the railway depot.)

Just before Christmas, he latched on to me and wanted me to hold his hand and lead him to the train. It was a bit  in front of quite a lot of boarders, but what can you do? You've got to help, really ..... :)

Kaz, I bet you'll be in for an increased number of visits from the Jehovah's Witnesses, now you've apparently been Beatified .....  :cute: :cute: :P

I've got a friend who reckons I attract life's characters
Whenever we're out together she tells me at some point, "don't speak, don't make eye contact"
