Why is it harsh kids must have the cash or wouldn't be able to go but yes organizers know that and so do the performers

They do. The prices of concert tickets is shocking. I'm going to less concerts now because I can's justify paying that much, it's getting ridiculous if you have to buy two tickets. And it's not just the face value price of the tickets but the fees charged on top of them.

Green Day always had a policy of keeping ticket prices low so that no one was priced out of going to their shows. I remember paying less than £30 each for me and Tom in 2009. Last year the same tickets were over £60.

We had restricted view tickets for The Killers at the NEC a few years ago and they were also around £30. Restricted view just meant that they were the very first side block next to the stage and the only part of the stage that we couldn't see was where the drummer was sat. When they played there late last year I saw those seats were available again and they were excellent seats so I looked at buying them again - £75 each. No thanks.

I will admit to paying £175 to see Madonna once (2006?) though, but OMG! I've always idolised Madonna so to be that close to her was amazing....I was three rows back from the catwalk (the celebs like Gwyneth Paltrow and Guy Richie were in the first two rows  ) and it was worth every penny. I've also got a ticket stub from seeing her in 1990 and that was £21. I've got a stub for David Bowie, from a few years earlier, and that was £16.

Me and Jackie went to see Madonna at Roundhay Park in Leeds in 1986 (it cost more to get there on the train than the tickets! ) but she was fantastic. :D

I went to see David Bowie at the NEC in the mid 80's with T my ex-husband. Sitting two seats away was Bill Nelson. As massive be bop deluxe fans we just couldn't believe our luck!

I have loads of stubs from concerts.....a classic is The Stranglers. 1978. Glasgow Apollo. £4.

The following week I saw The Jam and stood right next to Paul Weller's dad!

**old fogie head** but when I look back, concerts, even seeing major acts of the time, (10cc, Elton John, Billy Joel, Supertramp. I could go on)....it seemed really easy to buy a ticket at face value and basically you saw a flippin good gig.

Al - who is off to knit a twin set!

Saundra, yes they do have money, hard earned as C works for Radley in London and S is training to be a solicitor, but that doesn't mean that venues should get away with charging so much! If people don't pay up they won't get to see their favourite artists! :?

Ally, Jo, exactly! Gigs used to be reasonable prices!

You did. I saw 10cc at Manchester in 1974, Status Quo, Chuck Berry, Thin Lizzy (they were the support act to Bachman Turner Overdrive!!), Bad Company etc etc.

Britney Spears in Scarborough though! I hope it doesn't rain in that open air theatre that she's appearing at.

£120 a ticket!! :o  :o

Still, it will be something different for Scarborough, that's for sure.
