New is out that police recovered a bottle containing the substance from victim Charlie Rowley's house. There are no details about the size of the bottle or the amount of contents within it, but it is good news that it has been found. Hopefully there are no other "left overs" knocking about the area.
Mr Rowley was known to be a forager who went out looking for discarded items to repair and sell on and it is likely that this was one of his finds. Unfortunately it killed his girlfriend and has put his life's health at risk.
There are a few things still puzzling about this whole thing, though. We have been told that Novichok is one of the deadliest substances ever produced, that is a binary weapon where two (?) relatively benign compounds can be carried quite safely before being mixed to be used, that the variant used was military grade and that it was the Russian state behind the attack.
Yet with all of that three of the four victims have only fallen ill - very ill, but not dead. Something is not quite right.
