We haven't had a single drop of rain here yet. We seem to miss it every time.

I wonder how much longer we have to wait?

Us British and the weather!

Apart from the Random thread, which has been alive for years, the other two with the most posts out of all the interesting choices available are this one and Ossie's Heatwave.

We have just had thunder. This is not on the BBC Weather App. Can I sue them? :P

The moon did come out briefly last night but it was well after the eclipse had finished. We then had a couple of brief downpours overnight :D

They are forecasting a 96% probability of a deluge for tomorrow morning …..

You know that smell we all love after a rainstorm, especially a thundery one in a heatwave.... as if we ever have any of those damned things? :o Well there is science behind it.

The scent is real and is called petrichor and it comes from bacteria living in the soil and on plants. The bacteria go dormant when it is dry but once the water hits they go bananas and give of geosmin and when it mixes with air we love it.

You can now proclaim "Ah, petrichor" in complete safety after a downpour. ;)
