Got renewal terms for brak down cover for the car. It had increased by over £20.00.

Went on line and got a quote from the same company for the same cover which only had a small increase.

So phoned them up and have renewed at the much lower price. Was worth a few minutes on the phone.

I did the same a few years back - the renewal premium was loads higher than new customer premiums; so I called and complained and they dropped the renewal. They're more interested in enticing new customers than customer retention sadly. And that goes for most insurances etc

Yes, insurance companies take the Michael I'm afraid. They rely on people not bothering to change insurer. When I switched companies my old company contacted me to ask what sort of a deal they could do for me - too late!
