Good afternoon! Overcast and muggy now.
Did a mega shop at the supermarket yesterday evening to put off the evil day when I have to start wearing a muzzle. There were certainly more people using them, around 40% I'd say.
I also phoned the barbers yesterday and got an appointment for this morning, which I certainly wasn't expecting
, so walked up there around midday for a major trim to get rid of my current Doc Emmett Brown look ...
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emmett_Br ... _Brown.JPGI was the only person in there, and I gathered that business has tailed off quite a lot since the initial rush for haircutting after lockdown ended. He also confessed to having a couple of panic attacks when he first started back, with the strangeness of it all, and I told him that he wasn't the only one, as I'd suffered the same after going shopping in the early weeks of lockdown when the media were confidently predicting anyone over 70 and with ULH was going to die, period, if they stepped outside the house.
I also dropped off a load of second hand books we'd read during lockdown at the local charity shop. Only 2 charity shops of the 5 or so on the High Street have reopened.
This afternoon, Mrs O and I took an old family heirloom painting down to the local picture framer / artist's supplies shop for reframing and resizing of the border, which is rather large in context. Mrs O told him what she had in mind, and he then told her what we were going to get - it's that sort of shop!
Anyway, his proposals were fine, and we'll look to be getting it back mid-August. Rather fortuitous, as we gathered he's going to retire at the end of the summer; it will be a shame as another small independent artisan shop lost from the town centre.
Have a good day, all!
