Good morning Thursday

Postby Ally » 23 Jul 2020, 05:21

Good morning.

Hot.

Off for a quick run in a mo....then back for a swim.

Pool/shade/book is my plan for today.

I also need to watch last night's Masterchef as I got so caught up with Don and the dramarama of Birmingham City being relegated/not being relegated I didn't have the heart to not support my man in his 90 minutes of need.

Luckily, by the skin of their teeth they stayed up.

Then Masterchef normal tonight.

Have a great day.

Morning Ally, morning everyone

The early mist has now gone and we're in for another warm day. Still above normal temps and I've looked at the weather forecasts and we're set for another few weeks  Not until the middle of August do we go back to normal

Watering done and that's about it.

Have a good day everyone, whatever you're doing xx

Morning you two, morning all

Dropped my car off at a local garage for it's annual service this morning and then walked home - only 20mins so really close. Previously I'd have to find a garage close to the train station so I could get straight to work but now with working from home I am able to go more local and this garage has a very good reputation; and best is they have a car valet company working outside their garage so I've asked them to put it through for a good clean as well :D Will pick up the car later this afternoon and then head over to a friends for dinner this evening

I'l be taking a pair of secateurs with me for the walk back to the garage; the one section of footpath is quite over grown and has a few bramble branches at face height right over the entire footpath. Not normally an issue but I know that there is a blind person that walks along there every so often and they'd not be able to dodge it; so may as well cut what I can whilst I'm walking along there. Not sure whose responsibility it is to keep the overhanging vegetation clear of the footpath - council or landowner who the border belongs to.

Weather our neck of the woods is rather odd; it was meant to be warm this week but temperatures overnight have dropped a bit and it's now overcast with the sun struggling to break through and we're not expecting much above 21 or so for the next few days

Have a lovely day all

Morning all :)

Ally, that's funny ;)

Jan, take it easy in that heat :)

Ria, great that you've found somewhere convenient to home for the car service, and always lovely to get it valeted. That's kind of you, to prune back those brambles 8-) :)

Well no news from B's colleague, as yet. I went shopping as normal, because even if it's positive only B has to isolate apparently :? I am always very mindful anyway - mask on, trolley handle cleaned before and after, and giving people a wide berth. It's a beautiful day here, sunny with a light breeze, so I'm hoping to relax outside this afternoon 8-)

Love to all :) xxx

Morning all :D

Nice and dry, but a bit dull.

Overhanging bushes over a public pathway are the responsibility of the land/home owner Ria. Very kind of you to cut it back yourself.

E was really lucky at the barber, there was no one in the shop when he got there so he was in and out quite quickly, it's nice to see him looking 'normal' again  We had a nice little stroll along the clifftop afterwards, love a bit of sea air. We might drive over there this afternoon for a repeat.

Hope you all have a good day, stay safe xx

Afternoon all, dull and humid here and it was raining when we got up. We had a lovely day in Wicklow yesterday although the weather was disappointing. Still we managed to have a nice beach walk and I even had a paddle! Today I’ve changed the bedding, been to collect my new prescription sunglasses - which probably means no more sun for the rest of the summer  - and our supermarket delivery arrived. Ironing to be done this afternoon, isn’t there always

Good afternoon all, it’s dull and quite humid here.

I walked Bill first thing and then walked to town and back. By 10.30 I’d walked 8 miles, Next up is a walk to the post office to post the birthday cards I bought this morning.

Ria, you’ve reminded me to put my secateurs out ready for tomorrow morning’s walk. There’s a lovely path on the common which is very out of the way and it’s becoming overgrown with brambles and hawthorn, we snipped it back last year and each time we walk along there I think that I must remember to bring my secateurs but forget once I’m home. I’ll get them from the garage now while I remember

Have a good day all :)

Well car collected and what a relief at the cost. Last year I took it to a new garage close to the station (the previous three services were carried out by the dealer as the car was under warranty but last year was the first out of warranty service which was a lot closer than the dealer ship (45 mins in good traffic) Anyway I ended up paying so much money last year because of the brakes; the service today was 1/3 of that price!

And bonus was that I managed to collect two take away tubs full of blackberries for the chickens. The shrubs are on quite a busy road so I'd not really want to eat them myself but the chickens won't know or care - they'd strip that bush bare in minute if they could :D. And there's a lot more about to go ripe so I think I may just make this a daily 40 minute exercise thing - good for me and the chooks will love it! :D

Good afternoon! Overcast and muggy now.

Did a mega shop at the supermarket yesterday evening to put off the evil day when I have to start wearing a muzzle. There were certainly more people using them, around 40% I'd say.

I also phoned the barbers yesterday and got an appointment for this morning, which I certainly wasn't expecting  , so walked up there around midday for a major trim to get rid of my current Doc Emmett Brown look ...
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emmett_Br ... _Brown.JPG
I was the only person in there, and I gathered that business has tailed off quite a lot since the initial rush for haircutting after lockdown ended. He also confessed to having a couple of panic attacks when he first started back, with the strangeness of it all, and I told him that he wasn't the only one, as I'd suffered the same after going shopping in the early weeks of lockdown when the media were confidently predicting anyone over 70 and with ULH was going to die, period, if they stepped outside the house. :|

I also dropped off a load of second hand books we'd read during lockdown at the local charity shop. Only 2 charity shops of the 5 or so on the High Street have reopened.

This afternoon, Mrs O and I took an old family heirloom painting down to the local picture framer / artist's supplies shop for reframing and resizing of the border, which is rather large in context. Mrs O told him what she had in mind, and he then told her what we were going to get - it's that sort of shop! Anyway, his proposals were fine, and we'll look to be getting it back mid-August. Rather fortuitous, as we gathered he's going to retire at the end of the summer; it will be a shame as another small independent artisan shop lost from the town centre.

Have a good day, all!
