Courgettes, marrows, squashes, pumpkins, gourds etc are all from the same family - tough skin with gloop inside = horrible. Mind you I do like some varieties of melons such as galia, cantaloupe and honeydey and they are also from the same family so I am not a total philistine. ;) :D :D

We went out to a local pub last night, invitation from Amy and Tom (who paid for us all, they said it was part of my birthday present! 8-) :D ) Also it meant we could partake of the 50% off scheme the Govt have introduced throughout August - I can see us doing this again soon! 8-)

Oh - I had a veggie lasagne with home made chips and salad ;)

When we lived in Birmingham, we visited Charlecote Park, which is a big NT property / deer reserve east of Stratford on Avon. I remember there was a small country fruit and veg store near the entrance which seemed to specialise in marrows and pumpkins of every conceivable shape, size and variety. It was quite a display. We went during one Autumn and we brought a couple home, from memory. I've just had a look on Google to see if I could track it down but no luck.

Mrs O's marrow-stuffing days are over, I'm afraid. :lol: Now we usually just slice it and bake it as an accompaniment to mince or stew.

Today we have been preparing mounds of vegetables for our next soup-making. So tonight's dinner consisted of the excess carrots, courgettes and green beans, served with a tin of Campbells thick condensed celery soup and 1/2 a baked potato each .... :D
