Deb, can you confirm what you know on this score? I was also called for the vaccine about 3 weeks ago, but having discussed it with the nursing staff at work, I declined for the following reasons:-
You can still contract Covid after being vaccinated but you will be either very mildly affected or more likely asymptomatic.
My thinking was that as I am still working, still shopping, still seeing Tim's mum and Luke, being an asymptomatic spreader was more worrying that having some symptoms testing and isolating. If I had any health concerns I would have had it, but I dont, so for the greater good I declined.
This does explain to me why they are vaccinating the elderly in care homes and not the staff and families, as basically the vaccine protects the receiver not the larger community. Obviously this will come as they work down the tiers or recipients. When mine is due then I am happy to have it.
Has any of that been relayed to you too?
