Well I am surprised!

I was starting to think that I was the only one who had not chiselled the numbers 21/06/2021 backwards on my forehead so that when I looked in the mirror....

Most posters I see in other places seem to have set it, Excalibur like, in granite.

Would an extra week or two be a disaster?

Only for the government. The press is full of people who are "furious" that their holiday in Portugal has been canned. The only person they should be furious with is themselves. The government has been clear, it is down to data and even a country on the green list can come off the list as soon as the data shows the situation is deteriorating.

Our daughter and Grandson are planning to come and visit us in the next month. Their view is that they are going to a home where, if needed, they can isolate and test. When they come home they will go straight home and isolate and test. That's the only way you should be looking at it until the whole world is at least 75% vaccinated with two vaccines. Because, otherwise, you can wind up flying into a country which is about to lose control. It might be like the UK, young people, not yet vaccinated, plus vaccine hold outs. But, still, until it is firmly under control this situation is going to happen.

Why, FCOL, is anyone booking a holiday then becoming "furious" because the situation crapped out on them?

The press, of course, are milking it for all it is worth.

I have great sympathy for Cromwell, Saundra and many others who have been sold this June 21st date by the media. They have been fed a lie by the media who sold it as the be all and end all date, which it never was. Their frustration at what is now being proposed is totally understandable. We all want this semi lockdown "Lite" to end.

But get this: we have never been in lockdown proper. It has always been a "light touch" affair. Had it been military led then we would be in a very different place. The latest North West support would have been in place weeks ago, or not even necessary - nobody in and nobody out. No PC or SJW calculations allowed - proper quarantine.

We are lucky to be where we are, but, like it or not, we still have to be careful.

I totally agree with you WM. Things are going pretty well but as always, it is best to be safe than sorry. In some ways I dread the total lifting of lockdown as whilst most people will behave with a certain amount of caution, there are others who will put themselves and the rest of us in danger at the drop of a hat. I would be quite happy to be cautiously optimistic going forward, certainly for the next couple of weeks at least.

I agree but the government tell you one thing then just keep putting little bits of information
That it might not happen blah blah
And to be honest it never does
