Charging points for electric cars will be preset to turn off for nine hours a day
Transport Secretary Grant Shapps is said to be anxious that huge numbers of drivers will plug in their car when they return home between 5pm and 7pm.
Under regulations lodged with the World Trade Organisation, new chargers in the home and workplace will by default not operate from 8am to 11am and 4pm to 10pm.
Owners will be able to override the preset times, to take account of night workers and people who have different schedules.
Public chargers and rapid chargers, on motorways and A-roads, will be exempt.

That will probably be when the chancellor wants to claw back the VED, fuel duty and the VAT on the fuel duty they have lost from FF, and all the bribes they paid to get you to buy into the idea. They are going to get it from somewhere no matter how long you deny it. It won't happen till the day because to announce it sooner would kill the 100% EV idea. Never mind, keep looking at the pretty photos in the glossies.
I wonder what "normal" people would call it if the government prevented them from using their dish washers, washing machines, irons, kettles, ovens and the likes for nine hours a day?
