Where do you start with this?
Firstly, Truss won the leadership vote. Problem, the members have the last say and they voted for her, but more MP's wanted Fishy Rishi. So straight away she has a problem. Question though - if the Parliamentary Conservative Party does not represent the ordinary members of the Conservative party, then who do they represnt? given that we are supposed to be a representative democracy (ho ho). Do conservative MP's just represent themselves? Or vested interests?
This is a bit lit Brexit imo - we had a vote but MP's don't like it and they want to change the result! So Tory MP's want to put Sunak in without bothering to ask the members! What a performance, honestly.
I have zero sympathy for Tory MP's. They had a leader with an 80 seat majority and after a sustained, months long media campaign against johnson, the Tories dipped to 8 points behind Labour, so they backstabbed Johnson and got him out. I wonder how they feel now that they are 38 points behind? Apparently the feedback in some red wall seats after Johnson was got rid of has terrified some of these idiots.
As Os says, they are history at the next election - and deservedly so.
So Kwarteng gets the bullet and we get (drum roll) - Jeremy Hunt!!!
God love us. Remainer, globalist and the man who wanted people locked up during Covid. a man who had a report on handling a pandemic and ignored it.
Truss is trying to curry favour with Sunak supporters. She may as well not bother, they will just want more and more. She might as well resign and get her place in the history books - shortest term of any Prime Minister ever.
In fact if she wanted to be really nasty she should call a General Election now, and the backstabbing, entitled, treacherous rabble of Conservative backbenchers would get what they richly deserve, oblivion!
