Dizzy Lizzy and Kami Kwasi.

How long have they got?

The knives are out, but not from the wokey kokey lefty-wefty press, which is mainly right wing anyway. Oh no! The knives are being sharpened by their own side - the Con party members, constituency hacks and Con MPs.

Officially Truss has twelve months without challenge, but the rumours are that letters are in to change those rules. One senior MP told Sky "we have the numbers".

There will not be a GE, though. That would need 40 or so Tory MPs to vote against a government bill or a vote of no confidence from Labour. Sadly, neither is likely so we are stuck with the high speed train wreck.

The sooner we get rid of these clowns, especially Kwarteng, the better. Preferably before my pension provider folds, which is not beyond the bounds of possibility.
Never has the traditional football chant of "You don't know what you're doing ..." been more appropriate.
The Tories are toast at the next GE and deservedly so. I cannot believe that I have been seriously thinking that I wish Johnson had never gone.
My local (admittedly Sunak-supporting) local Conservative MP is completely unimpressed by all the shenanigans, judging by his Twitter account.

Kwarteng has been sacked. Sacked for instigating the promises made by Truss in her campaign order for her to be elelcted PM.

She is making a statement after 2PM which will include another U-turn on another of her major promises. Does anybody know how many are left intact?

Where do you start with this?

Firstly, Truss won the leadership vote. Problem, the members have the last say and they voted for her, but more MP's wanted Fishy Rishi. So straight away she has a problem. Question though - if the Parliamentary Conservative Party does not represent the ordinary members of the Conservative party, then who do they represnt? given that we are supposed to be a representative democracy (ho ho). Do conservative MP's just represent themselves? Or vested interests?

This is a bit lit Brexit imo - we had a vote but MP's don't like it and they want to change the result! So Tory MP's want to put Sunak in without bothering to ask the members! What a performance, honestly.

I have zero sympathy for Tory MP's. They had a leader with an 80 seat majority and after a sustained, months long media campaign against johnson, the Tories dipped to 8 points behind Labour, so they backstabbed Johnson and got him out. I wonder how they feel now that they are 38 points behind? Apparently the feedback in some red wall seats after Johnson was got rid of has terrified some of these idiots.

As Os says, they are history at the next election - and deservedly so.

So Kwarteng gets the bullet and we get (drum roll) - Jeremy Hunt!!!
God love us. Remainer, globalist and the man who wanted people locked up during Covid. a man who had a report on handling a pandemic and ignored it.

Truss is trying to curry favour with Sunak supporters. She may as well not bother, they will just want more and more. She might as well resign and get her place in the history books - shortest term of any Prime Minister ever.

In fact if she wanted to be really nasty she should call a General Election now, and the backstabbing, entitled, treacherous rabble of Conservative backbenchers would get what they richly deserve, oblivion!

ps - Larry the Cat's Twitter account is hysterically funny on this.

This afternoon's performance from Truss was shocking, absolutely pathetic. The woman would be out of her depth on a freshly mopped floor.

The more she says the greater the number of Tory MP's knives get sharpened.

She should resign, but she is either too thick to realise it would be good for the party and the country or she does not care. It's maybe a bit of both.

I have to say that Larry the Cat Twitter feed had me spluttering my cuppa tea, many thanks, Crommers! :D
The clip with the cat and the blanket ......

Jeremy Thorpe said, paraphrasing the Bible after Harold MacMillan sacked Rab Butler and 6 other ministers when his own Premiership was in trouble,:
"greater love hath no man than this - that he lay down his friends for his life."

If Truss thinks pushing Kwarteng under the bus is going to save her Premiership, she's sadly mistaken - one might almost say delusional.
Sir Graham Brady is back off his hols in Greece on Monday, and a full post-box apparently awaits him .....

When a leader's MPs turn against them how long can they last? See Maggie for details.

All the papers are asking the same question, even the Mail and Express. It only remains to be seen as to how her removal can be done. Graham Brady will return to a full inbox on Monday.

Whaterver happens she's a dead woman walking, She knows it, and so do we. Another eighteen months? I think not.
