Stop the petty bureaucracy and let the woman stay.

Leonarda Zarcone, 74, has been here since 1981, built a a business she and her husband started, paid taxes and NI and has settled status, but she does not have the "correct" paperwork. All her family and roots are here, her children and grandchildren.

But she has to go. Some wonk with a clipboard has said so.

If there were not real people involved this could be a sketch from Monty P.
A Home Office spokesperson said: "All EU Settlement Scheme applications are carefully considered on their individual merits, on the basis of the evidence provided and in accordance with the immigration rules.

OK, do it! It should only take seconds for the "allowed" stamp to be applied.

Ah, but, the clipboard warriors are in control.

"Illegal" migrants can come here, be housed, get benefits. and be allowed to stay until they are assessed, yet someone who has built a business, paid taxes, and contributed for over 40 years is told to "sod off'.

It's so wrong.

Yes but hang on a second. If she has an EU passport and lived in the UK that long, then she was entitled to permanent right to reside wasn't she? Granted I let mine expire for France but that was my choice.

Did she not apply?

If this is the case just get it over with and do the paperwork retrospectively.

If it is a case that her EU paperwork is a problem from her application then just get it sorted out.

This is what most people rage about. Come illegally on a boat and be housed, clothed and fed and a horde of lawyers to keep you here gratis. Come legally and some "person" will try to chuck you out.

This is where civil service sackings need to happen. It is also where hard right votes come from.
There are 10 types of people in the world:
Those who understand Binary and those who do not.

About 28 years ago, my daughter in law who is Japanese, came to this country to marry my son. She hadher own money, was qualified and worked as an accountant.
Did not get any benefits and suported herself.

But she had to go out of the country for 48 hours every twelve months until she was married. My wife and I enjoyed the Belgian chocolates they brought back.

I wonder what the clipboard person would say if it was his parent/Grandparent

Like the film titie says "It's a mad mad, mad world".
