News priorities again

Postby Suff » 27 May 2013, 00:15

I'm wondering why the main news has nothing about the 7 days of rioting and burned vehicles in Stockholm. I should have seen it front and centre at least on Google news. In the end Mrs S mentions it to me and and I have to go digging for it.

This is not hard for me to believe, I know the tensions and, effective, dual layers of society in Sweden. However the lack of strong coverage on Western news is a surprise. Gay marriage is in NO way more important than this social crisis in Sweden. I see it covered in depth on RT news, but nowhere else I'm looking.

The more I see of this the more I understand that our news organisms are moving towards the same restrictions that the USSR had.

These riots will have a direct impact of producing more votes for the Sweden Democrats (think BNP with attitude). It will destabilise the socialist governments of Sweden and create greater bias against immigrants. This kind of thing is IMPORTNT. If it can happen in liberal Sweden, the ramifications for the rest of the EU are staggering. I can understand the death in Woolich taking the news. I can't understand this mania for reporting a minor side issue which is Gay Marriage......

We get what we deserve.

We are only informed of what is thought to be good for us suff.. I am sick sick sick of the rubbish that fills newspapers and TV, the good bad and indifferent with respect to damned celebrities, footballers and other absolute rubbish designed I believe with governments approval internationally to detract from the real news that is important to every individual.

This government does seem obsessed with Gay Marriage. It is such an irrelevance to the lives of the majority of people - surely they have far more pressing issues to address! :?

An irrelevance to you Kaz but an abomination to me. The mere thought of it sends my blood pressure soaring. :( The Swedish situation is well covered in Media and news channels elsewhere in the world and my views on it are a bit radical to put on here.

I was going to post in similar fashion to Suff's even though the Swedish riots were covered by both the BBC and Sky on their World pages.

The riots were sparked by the death of an old man who was shot by police after he allegedly threatened to kill them with a machete. However they soon turned into 'race' riots in areas with high (85%) immigrant populations.

What surprised me was the anodyne nature of the web coverage, attempting to justify the violence due to underlying causes, and the virtual lack of any TV coverage. According to the perceived wisdom it is all the fault of the Swedes for not doing enough to integrate the immigrants. Now, where have we heard that before?

They only show this stuff when they have to. The riots had been going on for four or five nights before it made our news. The story had been all over the net before that. It was the same carry on a few years ago when there was night after night of rioting in the Paris suburbs. It was ages before the BBC acknowledged it.

It's almost like there is a "gentlemans" agreement not to put cross EU bad news on prime time TV in the other nations....

I asked the guys at work how it was affecting them. They laughed and said it's like a riot in Slough being touted as a "London" riot. But, all the same, after reading into it, I see the tension. A society which will not conform, will not integrate and is ostracised as a result.

What most people don't understand is that "anti social" behaviour, in good Swedish society, is not cleaning the fluff filter in the communal clothes dryer in shared accommodation. Most of the people in Stockholm live this way and if you are a serial offender in not cleaning the filter you are ostracised and people mutter about you under their breath when you pass.

Imagine immigrants coming into that level of society and then trying (or not), to fit in. They have no clue how to behave in a Swedish society and, so, they become ghetto communities where the Swede's leave.

Don't get me wrong, conform and integrate and the Swede's will accept anyone of any race and creed. Don't conform and they will not want anything to do with you. Their "socialist" society is a very rigid socialist society as they all are. Swede's have NO interest in changing their society for immigrants because they believe that their society works very well for them.

So what do the immigrants do? What they do everywhere else. Riot, burn things, shout for more integration and more change in society.

Perhaps if the listened instead of shouting, they might get on better.

More Sweden Democrats in the next election. There are now 10% immigrants in Sweden from African and Arabic nations. I can see the level headed Swede's voting in enough Sweden Democrats to get rid of the lot of them. The society there is quite implacable.

The press? Do they ask why this should be going on in a nation which ensures that every resident person has a good level of comfort and living, working or not? No, they ignore it.
