Back in the 70`s the brewery put a brand new steam oven in the catering kitchen
for me in the pub we had then :D
I had never seen one before so it was all new to me.
I found it wonderful for things like steak and kidney puddings and sponge puddings
but I don`t think I would use one in a private kitchen as there would be no need
unless they are a lot smaller now than then :D

To be honest I have never had a gas hob, but having watched my sis in law, who swears by gas, lifting all those flipping burners off to clean it, as I wipe over my lovely shiny induction hob, that never gets food burnt on because it doesn't get hot, I have to say WHY???????

my next hob will be an induction one Shell; my sister has one as well and she loves it!

Osc, back to your question - I have no experience of a steam oven at all; never knew they existed in all honesty. But if you do indeed steam most of your food and would use it regularly then why not; it probably would make sense for you to get one of those. And if you don't do lot's of regular oven baking but just a bit then maybe you could get yourself a good convection microwave, ie one that has the ability to cook like an oven as well. I've got one and use it loads, I very seldom use my big oven

Well, the latest is that he thinks we probably don't need one ;) When he gets an idea in his head, sometimes it's best to let him work it through and he usually comes to the right decision in the end  That means over €1,000 more towards the kitchen itself ;)

I did wonder Osc, as I can be a bit like that sometimes :x
Glad he's worked it out, it did sound a little impractical if you're going to have less space anyway :)

More money to spend on the frivolities then :D the nice little bits and pieces instead of just the practical
