I wanted England to do well, I really did, but that they have not is no surprise.

In defence of the England team I will say this: The Premiership lets them down.

Every major footballing country has players in the Prem playing week-in, week-out against our players. Those players can go home and give their teams in-depth and first-hand knowledge about how our players play, their strengths and weaknesses, and how English football operates. The flips side is that we only get to see these individuals from within the Prem - it's a one-way street.

Pretty much sums up my view as well, really. Once you're at Premiership level and above, it's no longer a sport, it's just another form of fodder for media / celebrity hype. I haven't watched any of the World Cup matches, TBH, I have no passion for it, despite being a life-long football fan!

That has been my view for years. We do not play against each other, Spain know more about how we play than we do.

I knew more players in the Spanish side than I did in the English side

I used to love football, I was a big Arsenal fan. In the days of Wright, Adams, Merson, Parlour. Players that felt proud to play for Arsenal. I lost interest when the team became full of players that wouldn't recognise Highbury (as was) if they fell over it
